This FARM TABLE is the perfect addition to any kitchen nook. It has been built from the reclaimed wood of a centuries old home.Look at the beautiful rich character of this amazing table.
EXTENSION FARM TABLE from 1850 reclaimed white oak. This unique farm table converts from a 6' or 7' to a 10'. The company boards store up under the table for your convenience. (No more hunting for a place to store them when not in use.) As an added feature with this farm table is a false plate is provided to cover the slots for the company boards when they are not in use.

How PK Woodworks began
This beautiful farm table above was built from the reclaimed wood of the centuries old "Deyton" home(1810) in Burnsville, NC. Progress was now threatening our quaint little town. They were widening 19E into a four lane, and 86 barns alone were scheduled to be torn down. I always loved old homes and I would always stop and look at them wondering about who may have lived in them. One day I was walking by an old fallen down home, and an old man was sitting on the porch, he had tears in his eyes.His name was Dale Deyton. The home was his childhood home. He began to tell me stories of growing up in the old home. He showed me where his family had marked the wall as all 8 children were growing up. We toured the kitchen, the heart of his home, which was now all fallen down. I spent hours that day learning all I could about the Deyton family. It was a life changing day for me. You see Mr. Deyton told me the old home was being torn down in the name of progress. He could not afford to do all the needed repairs and the state was purchasing it to widen the highway. I left there that day so sad, promising to come back, and see him soon.
I went home that afternoon and talked to Pat. My husband was a master craftsman.I told him the story, and asked if we could build him "something" out of the wood so he could save some of the history of the home, his home. Pat readily agreed. I saw Mr. Deyton the next day to tell him our plans. He was very happy and readily agreed. We tore down very carefully, the size chart, as well as some of a kitchen wall.We went home and Pat began to build. He built a beautiful table, and bench from the reclaimed wood. Mr. Deyton was so happy, and with pride took his table and bench to his new home. The bench sits proudly now on his front porch where he reminisces still of his childhood home now long gone. A highway in it's place.
Pat and I decided right then that we were going to save as much of that history as we possibly could. We began traveling around North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee, purchasing old homes, and barns that were going to be torn down. The history in these old homes amazed us. We not only took the old wood with us, in most cases we also took the stories of the home. What started as helping one old man to save a piece of his family home, had now become our journey.
Pat and I are now dedicated to saving as much of the rich history of our country that we can. We pride ourselves on building green furniture that is affordable for all, from the reclaimed wood of centuries old homes and barns. When we have a shipping run going in the direction listed above your shipping charges are minimal. This service reduces your shipping charges greatly as you won't have crating charges of $125.00, lift gate charges of $50.00 and other standard charges of shipping companies ( Size, weight, class and density). Our customers seem to prefer to have us do our own runs because they can order multiple items for one shipping charge...everyone shares the cost of the trucks rental. We make nothing on this...we do this as a service to our customers. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
